Founded in 1989, the Galerie Lilian Rodriguez presents contemporary art in all its forms, with a special accent on Latin American art of today. As such, we collaborate with galleries, artists, corporations, cultural institutions, museums and embassies from South America to help create artistic manifestations.

The artists whom we represent distinguish themselves by their poetic side but their works resolutely tackle subjects that are specific to our time. Moreover, our interest in various cultures, in the aesthetic as well as anthropological sense of the word, enabled us to enrich our collection of contemporary art, which has grown to include, since 2004, a collection of Latin American folk art as well as textile and ceramic arts.

Concerning Latin-American art, we have organized several shows throughout Canada including the exhibition L’Art textile argentin d’aujourd’hui (Argentinean Textile Art of Today), which travelled throughout Canada in 1988-1989. We also organized several cultural exchange projects between Canada and Latin America, in particular with Argentina and Mexico. We presented, at our Montreal gallery, the works of Carlos Gorriarena, Betsabeé Romero, Josefina Robirosa, Silvina Trigos, Lux Lindner,Graciela Taquini and Monica Van Asperen.

Over the years, the Galerie Lilian Rodriguez has ensured that the artists it represents have their works included in prominent museums and corporate collections. These include the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the National Gallery of Canada, Hydro-Québec, the National Bank of Canada, the Canada Council for the Arts, Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec, Loto-Québec, the Groupe Conseil AON, OMERS (Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System), Oakville Galleries, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Canada, Jarislowsky Fraser Limited (Montréal, Toronto, Vancouver),Leonard & Bina Ellen Gallery, La Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, BC.

Moreover, Galerie Lilian Rodriguez lends its expertise to museums, universities, libraries, insurance companies, law firms, professional associations, government institutions and private collectors, for appraisals of works of art in the context of gifts, purchases, counter-appraisals and for insurance purposes. Our services are addressed to seasoned art enthusiasts as well as to first-time collectors.

We have added a consulting service to the gallery’s usual activities. We handle corporate art collection in the case of moving and renovation, archiving and cataloguing works in addition to conservation and framing.

In order to promote and increase the visibility of our artists and to develop an international market, the gallery takes part in several art fairs, particularly in Latin America, Europe and Canada.
