In Antonia’s Garden, Portolese uses portraiture, landscape and still life to explore the complexities of family and the relationship between mother and child.
The monograph includes thirty-five images produced over the course of 4 years. On the day of the event, the artist will be present and a selection of images will be on view.
A deluxe edition of the monograph, which includes an original signed print by the artist, will also be for sale.
Marisa Portolese is of Italian origin but was born in Montreal, Quebec, where she currently lives and works. She is an Associate Professor in the Photography Program in the Faculty of Fine Arts, at Concordia University. Her practice includes photography and video and her work has been exhibited widely in Canada, Europe and the United States.
